Description: A premium quality, high build "ceramic" low luster, 100% Acrylic Elastomeric coating system for beautifying, protecting and waterproofing exterior wall surfaces. A flexible coating that has an elongation factor of up to 400%.
Surface Preparation: Loose or peeling coatings must be removed by sand or water blasting. All loose or defective concrete or masonry and any surface contaminates such as dirt, oils, mildew, chalk and efflorescence which may adversely affect product adhesion and performance must be removed.
Uses: It is recommended for Vertical Surfaces of Wood, Wooding Siding, Metal, Concrete, Masonry, Stucco
Advantages: Environmentally friendly, resistant to dirt pick-up, resists wind driven rain, breathable, maintains adhesion and flexibility even in cold temperatures, superior resistance to ultraviolet ray breakdown, bridges hairline cracks, provides thermal barrier.
Dry Time: Dries to touch in two hours, dries to re-coat overnight. Drying time will vary depending upon temperature, humidity and film thickness. Do not apply under visible wet conditions.
Clean-Up: Clean tools and hands with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
Mildew: DO NOT PAINT OVER MILDEW. Mildew is a fungus, brown, black, grey or even white in color, and will rapidly grow through any coating applied over it. A solution of 50% household bleach and 50% water will kill the mildew. See precautions on bleach label for handling before using. Once our coating is applied, it has a mildew inhibitor that should reduce or eliminate mildew build-up.
Application: Apply by brush, roller or sprayer. Mix thoroughly prior to use. For spray application, use a heavy duty conventional airless pump with a minimum rating of 1500 p.s.i. and with a .025 spray tip.
Fire Resistance: Meets Class "A" spread of flame test.
Finish: Low Luster
Limitations: Do not apply over mildew. Not recommended for below grade surfaces. Retaining walls, planter boxes, etc. must be waterproofed on the backside with a below grade waterproofing type material prior to back filling. Not recommended for application to frost covered surfaces. Not recommended for application if rain is expected within 24 hours. Do not apply when temperatures are below 50 degrees F or expects to drop below 40 degrees F within a 24 hour period or when fog or rain is in the 24 hour forcast. May blister if water gets behind the product. Guard against hydrostatic pressure and caulk any dissimilar surfaces with an elastomeric caulk prior to painting. Not recommended for high traffic horizental surfaces.
Efflorescence: Must be removed by washing with a 10% solution of muriatic acid.
Technical Services: Ceram-X systems use only the very best raw materials and are manufactured by a company with over 40 years of specialty coatings experience.
Safety: Use appropriate personal protective equipment.
Joint & Large Crack Treatment: Perimeter joints between unlike materials such as around doors, windows, vents, etc. and active joints such as curtain wall joints, expansion and control joints must be caulked and filled with an authorized elastomeric caulk carefully following the manufacturer's specification.
Hydrostatic Water Pressure: Improper caulking between unlike materials (masonry, wood, metal substrates) can allow moisture/water to get behind the coating film. The presence of this moisture will allow the formation of a hydrostatic pressure condition which could cause the premature failure of the coating system by blistering and peeling.
Coverage: 90-100 sq.ft. per gallon. 18 mils wet (8.28 mils dry) film thickness. Warranty requires either two coats of this product or one coat of the 6475 primer and one coat of this product.
Priming: Ceram-X is self-priming on masonry substrates (two coats are required to produce 16.56 mils dry coating film thickness or one coat of the 6475 primer and one coat of this product to produce a 10 dry mill thickness) All wood and metal surfaces should be primed with 6475 primer which contains ceramic spheres and special additives to insure maximum adhesion of the coating system. Applied primer which has been exposed to dirt, dust, salt air, or chemical environments must be washed down and re-primed prior to top coat being applied
Thinning: SPRAY APPLICATION: DO NOT THIN. Thinning may affect performance and violate warranty.
